This trek is perfect for adventurers seeking a raw,  challenging journey through Nepal’s remote Dolpo region. Nestled in the rain shadow of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges, the trek offers breathtaking landscapes, ancient Buddhist and Bon cultural experiences, and encounters with unique wildlife like blue sheep, musk deer, and Himalayan Tahr in Shey Phoksundo National Park.

The trail crosses two high passes Baga La (5169m), and Numa La (5190m)—and includes visits to Doh Tarap, one of Nepal’s highest villages, and the serene Shey Phoksundo Lake.

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our representative will greet you.  After a brief introduction, you’ll be transferred by private vehicle to your hotel in the heart of Kathmandu. Along the way, catch your first glimpse of this vibrant city, rich in history and bustling with life. Once checked in, the day is yours to relax or explore nearby areas like Thamel. Later, we’ll hold a briefing to discuss your adventure ahead.

Fly to Nepalgunj (150m) – Gateway to the West
Highlights
After breakfast, we’ll transfer you to the airport for a one-hour flight to Nepalgunj, a bustling town near the Indian border. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and, if time permits, visit the revered Bageshwari Temple. Nepalgunj’s vibrant markets reflect the cultural blend of Indian and Nepali influences. Relax and enjoy the local flavors. Overnight at the hotel.

Fly to Juphal (2475m), Trek to Dunai (2140m) – Entering Dolpo
Highlights
An early morning scenic flight takes you to Juphal, the starting point of your trek. As the plane lands amidst rolling hills, the rugged beauty of Dolpo greets you. Our local trekking crew will meet you at the airstrip, and after a warm welcome, you’ll begin the short hike to Dunai. The trail descends gently through terraced fields and past quaint villages, following the Bheri River. Overnight at a guesthouse in Dunai, the administrative center of Dolpo.

Trek to Tarakot (2540m) – Along the Bheri River
Highlights
Today’s trek follows the turquoise Bheri River as it winds through narrow gorges and open valleys. The trail passes terraced fields, chortens, and small settlements, providing glimpses of traditional village life. Tarakot, once a fortress town, boasts ancient ruins and a vibrant cultural atmosphere. Overnight camping by the river.

Trek to Laini (3370m) – Into the Wilderness
Highlights
Leaving Tarakot, the trail ascends through dense forests and rugged landscapes. The day involves crossing suspension bridges, navigating rocky paths, and following the river deeper into the Dolpo region. Laini offers a peaceful campsite, surrounded by towering cliffs and the sounds of nature. Overnight in tents.

Trek to Toltol (3523m) – Cliffs and Waterfalls
Highlights
Today’s trek leads through dramatic gorges and alongside cascading waterfalls. The narrow paths carved into the cliffside offer exhilarating views, while the serene atmosphere makes for a meditative journey. Toltol, perched by the river, is a quiet stopover amidst the wilderness. Overnight camping.

Trek to Tally (4440m) – Ascent through Remote Valleys

Cross Numa La Pass (5190m), Trek to Danigar (4465m)
Highlights
Today marks one of the trek’s most challenging sections. After an early start, you’ll ascend to Numa La Pass (5160m), adorned with prayer flags and cairns. Take in panoramic views of the Dhaulagiri and Kanjiroba ranges. A steep descent leads to the yak grazing area of Danigar. Overnight camping.

Cross Baga La Pass (5169m), Trek to Yak Kharka (3860m)
